Strepsiptera phylogeny and coevolution of its hymenopteran hosts Print

Knowledge of phylogeny of Strepsiptera allows us to answer basic questions about the coevolution of this parasite and its hosts. It provides important information about the diversity of the whole order, speciation and definition of species conception in Strepsiptera.
Our main interest is directed towards the questions about the host specificity in recent species as well as the evolution of recent lineages. These studies are carried out by comparison of dichotomic cladograms of strepsipterans and cladograms of their hosts.
For reconstruction of Strepsiptera phylogeny sequences of several genes (mitochondrial, nuclear, rDNA) will be used.
